Your Questions About Flying to Morocco — Answered

Straight answers from our local team in Morocco

Which Morocco airport should I book my flight to?

It depends on where your tour starts. If you’re exploring Marrakech, the Sahara or the Atlas Mountains, fly into Marrakech Menara (RAK) — it’s 15 minutes from the medina. If you’re doing a grand Morocco tour starting from the north, Casablanca Mohammed V (CMN) makes more sense. Not sure? Tell us your itinerary and we’ll tell you exactly which airport saves you the most travel time.

When is the cheapest time to book flights to Morocco?

January and February consistently offer the lowest fares from all major markets. From the UK you can find return flights to Marrakech for under £100 in those months. The key is booking 6 to 8 weeks ahead for standard travel, and 3 to 4 months ahead for Easter, summer and Christmas periods. Setting a Skyscanner price alert for your dates costs nothing and catches sales automatically.

Are there direct flights to Morocco from the USA?

Yes — Royal Air Maroc operates direct flights to Casablanca from New York JFK, Washington Dulles, Miami and Atlanta. United Airlines also flies direct from New York to Marrakech three times a week. From the West Coast you’ll need one stop — typically via a European hub or Casablanca. Flight time from the East Coast is around 7.5 to 9 hours direct.

Can I fly into one Morocco airport and out of another?

Yes — and it’s often the smartest way to see more of the country without retracing your steps. Flying into Fes and out of Marrakech is one of our most popular combinations — it allows a natural south-to-north or north-to-south journey. Most airlines allow open-jaw tickets for this. Search both airports separately on Skyscanner and compare the total cost against a return flight.

My flight gets into Morocco late at night — what should I know?

Morocco’s main airports — Marrakech, Casablanca, Fes and Agadir — all handle late night arrivals regularly. Passport control is generally quick outside peak hours. Taxis are available but agree the price before getting in. If you’re on an EMT tour, your driver will be waiting regardless of arrival time — we track your flight live and adjust for any delays. Your accommodation will be ready and waiting whenever you land.
